According to Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang, it's time for PC makers to shift more basic computing functions from microprocessors to graphics chips, which he said will allow for more powerful systems that cost less and use less power. The company has shipped sore than 100 million graphics processing unit chips capable of doing this work, Huang said, adding that in his view the technology has finally reached its tipping point.
