The FAA is proposing mandatory fixes for some 777 engines to prevent a buildup of ice that can result in loss of thrust. The move was prompted by the investigation into a non-fatal 777 crash at London Heathrow Airport last year. Investigators said a "previously unknown" icing problem had cut off fuel flow to the plane's engines. Worldwide, more than 200 777s operate with the Rolls-Royce engines in question, and about 50 of those aircraft operate in the U.S.
