Multiple hospitals and 16 patients in four states were involved in what is believed to be the longest-ever chain of donations, in which doctors performed eight kidney transplants over three weeks. "We finally beat the 'Grey's Anatomy' record for domino transplants," said Robert Montgomery, chief transplant surgeon at Johns Hopkins, where nine of the 16 surgeries occurred. "We hope this creates a movement that encourages other transplant centers to adopt the model we used."
