Researchers said women who suffer pre-eclampsia during two pregnancies have a sixfold higher risk for hypertension later on, independent of their risk for Type 2 diabetes. The study included more than 782,000 women in Denmark and went from 1978 to 2007. It suggested health care professionals include a history of a woman's pregnancy outcomes when evaluating risk of cardiovascular disease.
