Weis Markets has begun a 90-day price freeze on more than 1,300 branded and private-label products across categories including grocery, frozen, dairy, meat, health, beauty and general merchandise. This is the 11th time the retailer has instituted a freeze since beginning the policy in 2009.
Weis Markets is holding prices for 90 days on more than 2,000 name-brand and private-label products in its 10th price-freeze promotion. "With price inflation on food expected to continue in 2013, we hope to help mitigate the impact on our customers with our Price Freeze program, allowing our customers to enjoy long-term value on everyday items," said Kurt Schertle, sales and merchandising executive vice president.
SUPERVALU has added four tart frozen yogurts and six ice cream desserts to its private-label offerings. The Stone Ridge Creamery yogurts and Culinary Circle ice cream desserts are available at SUPERVALU stores at lower price points compared with national brands.
Weis Markets is freezing thousands of private-label and brand-name items at recently reduced prices until April 1. The program is being promoted in print, radio and TV ads, along with Price Freeze shelf tags.
