Workers are clearing out silt buildup from the Melvin Price Locks and Dam on the Mississippi River at Alton, Ill. The $3 million project will clear sludge, mud and silt from two dewatered chambers. The facility's 150-ton, 70-foot-tall miter gates were sent to St. Louis for repair -- via the largest floating crane on the Mississippi River.
