While the show is known for getting period details right, Dr Pepper apparently didn't enjoy widespread distribution in New York at that time, according to New York Times advertising columnist Stuart Elliott, making the placement of the machine a bit of an oddity. Dr Pepper Snapple Group's Canada Dry brand has a season-long deal with the popular AMC show, including a "custom heritage vignette" and ads that run during the show.
