Officials with Gaylord Entertainment Co. say they are concerned that plans for a publicly financed, $300 million Marriott-run convention hotel in Nashville, Tenn., could pose unwanted competition for the company's 2,881-room Opryland Resort & Convention Center. The new, 1,000-room hotel would have as much as 100,000 square feet of meeting space, and a Gaylord official said the project would likely only get a third of its guests from convention center business, meaning it would have to generate business -- and pose significant competition, in order to keep rooms filled.
