A recent decision by the U.S. Customs Service could result in the U.S. imposing a 2.5% tariff on all solar-panel imports. Officials in the solar-energy industry oppose the decision, which now applies only to a panel made by China-based Trina Solar, and they are pushing for its reversal. If applied to all manufacturers, importers of solar panels could face millions in tariffs and penalties.
