Educators at Danz Elementary School in Wisconsin say two-way bilingual classes -- which combine native English and Spanish speakers and teach both languages equally -- are a better approach to teaching English to Spanish-speaking students. The classes also benefit the native English speakers, who are able to learn a foreign language while still in elementary school. The first class of Danz bilingual students is entering high school, and district officials say they may expand the program if they can recruit enough quality bilingual teachers.
