A growing number of schools in the Portland, Ore., area are allowing students who have autism to use service dogs at school to help provide emotional and behavioral support and improve social skills. Laurel Oliver-Gilmore, an autism specialist who trains autism-service dogs, brings a dog with her on many school visits. "I've seen a huge difference in kids' behavior since I started bringing Gunner to school," she says.
