Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is calling for improvements to the country's education system, which he says puts Israeli students at a disadvantage compared with their peers worldwide. Netanyahu said there should be a focus on a core curriculum and that an increase in education funding as well as improving the status of Israel's teachers could help. "We need to focus on core subjects that allow the general Israeli population to assimilate into the workforce ... and they need basic knowledge in math, computer science, and languages," he said.
