New York City officials say the state should prohibit natural-gas drilling -- particularly a process called hydraulic fracturing -- in its watershed. Fracking methods are "unacceptable threats to the unfiltered fresh water supply of nine million New Yorkers," said Steven Lawitts, the city's top environmental official. New York Gov. David Paterson said he is in the process of vetting "all points of view."
