The health care reform bills passed by the House and the Senate do not contain new regulations affecting the deductability of marketing expenses on direct-to-consumer prescription drug advertising. In an e-mail circulated after the Senate passed its version of health care reform, Clark Rector, the American Advertising Federation executive vice president for government affairs said any change to deductability would have been "a disastrous choice, both economically and politically.
