Property/casualty insurers saw their 2008 asbestos and environmental losses drop to their lowest levels since 2000, according to a report from A.M. Best. The industry's net-incurred asbestos losses last year fell by 49.9% from 2007 levels to about $1.3 billion. Environmental losses declined to about $400 million, down by 41.3% from the year before, the report said.
