The Macquarie Group is working on a deal to sell the rights it holds to manage two REITs, Macquarie CountryWide Trust and Macquarie Office Trust, the prospective buyer said. David Southon, joint managing director of the Charter Hall Group, confirmed the negotiations are under way and said Charter wants to acquire the management rights but said there's no guarantee the deal will make it to a closing. "We would be taking on the entire funds and all they had," Southon said.
