Global smartphone sales will reach 390 million units within three years, with newcomers such as Android, Apple's MacOS and Palm's webOS carving out solid shares of the market -- along with Nokia's Symbian software, which will stake a strong presence in developing markets, according to an IDC forecast. The research firm predicts Symbian, Android, BlackBerry and Windows Mobile will outperform Apple's operating system then.
