Matt Savage, a 17-year-old jazz musician and college student who has autism, has grown from a child prodigy with a disability to an accomplished student with a successful career as a composer and performer. Years of specialized therapies and dietary adjustments have given way to days filled with college courses, rehearsals and homework assignments for Savage, who donates proceeds from his recordings and concerts to autism advocacy groups and sits on a Boston Conservatory advisory board that helps children with autism receive music instruction.
