Officials in a California district have deadlocked on a proposal to create California's first Hebrew language charter school. District trustees expressed concerns the school will adopt a religious curriculum and lack ethnic diversity among its students. Supporters of the proposed school plan to appeal the decision and said that while Hebrew will be a focus of the school's rigorous college preparatory curriculum, other languages, such as Greek, Latin and Arabic, will also be taught.
