Facebook more than doubled its visitor count in 2009, but Twitter grew even faster, with almost 10 times as many visitors in 2009 as it had in 2008, according to a report on U.S. social-media behaviors from comScore. The report found Internet users dedicate 11% of their online time to social networking. Facebook grabbed the No. 1 spot last May and continued its dominance throughout the year, finishing with 112 million U.S. visitors in December, compared with 20 million for Twitter.
