A weekly report from the American Chemistry Council shows evidence that the industry is wielding its historical pattern of strong first-quarter performances, writes analyst Paul Hodges in this ICIS blog post. In anticipation of recovery in key markets, chemical companies restocked during January and February, thus registering the first positive trend since 2006, according to ACC estimates. A V-shaped recovery comparable to the boom years is unlikely, "but we should hopefully see an improvement versus Q2 last year," Hodges writes.
