The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute will allot $76 million over the next five years for the Next Generation Genetic Association Studies program, which will focus on research on human genomic variation and relationships of genes to diseases. The first-phase grants will fund a technology development phase that will use induced pluripotent stem cell generation and differentiation methods to produce cell types associated with heart, lung and blood diseases.
