Public comments are due to the FTC by June 30 on proposed new regulations for Web sites for children that would require parents of children under 13 to agree to the collection of personal data. The FTC is also seeking input on whether mobile devices should be considered part of the Internet, for the purposes of these regulations. The changes are part of a required once-every-five-years review of the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, which became law in 2000.
