Researchers examined the medical records of a sexual health clinic and found that the percentage of patients who were treated within two weeks of being diagnosed with chlamydia increased from 38% to 94% after the clinic shifted from paper records to an electronic medical record system. The number of days before a patient received treatment also dropped from 11.5 days to 3.5 days after the clinic implemented an EMR system.
