BASF is eyeing major spending on plastics as "megatrends" in energy efficiency, construction and climate dominate the plastics market, the German chemical major said Tuesday. "Plastics are nowadays indispensable when it comes to finding solutions to the major issues of the future," said Martin Brudermuller, a board member of BASF's Asia-Pacific plastics division. Growth will be largest in Asia, where the company will be investing heavily in the construction of new plants and research and development in the next few decades, Brudermuller added.
