Arabic is becoming a popular choice for foreign language learning at a New York City high school. Students at Friends Seminary are still choosing French and Spanish courses more often, but an increasing number are enrolling in offerings in Arabic language and culture. Of the students taking Arabic, many are inspired to continue studying the language in college, one teacher said. The school is one of a handful in New York City that teach Arabic, and most that do have large Arab-American populations.
