Despite the proliferation of media reports about the dangers of bisphenol A, no studies have shown that current levels of exposure to BPA are harmful to humans, according to the latest report by the Food and Drug Administration. The American Chemistry Council says BPA is not known to cause cancer, and that "based on sound, robust scientific evidence, some government bodies around the world have concluded that BPA is not carcinogenic in humans." The FDA has only recommended that "reasonable steps" be taken to lower exposure to BPA for infants and children.
