North Carolina teachers say that using smartphones in the classroom has helped students increase their math scores and boost achievement in other subjects. The smartphones give students mobile access to the Project K-Nect program, which began two years ago by targeting disadvantaged ninth-graders. "Students improved their scores in math by an average of 20%, and this technology and wireless Internet access ensures the equitable delivery of engaging instruction, bridging the persistent digital and achievement divides," said Julie Evans, CEO of Project Tomorrow, which studied the program.
