Blinds.com shuts off its phones every Friday from 2 to 2:15 p.m. in order to bring the entire company together for an all-hands meeting. "People cannot collaborate if they don't feel connected," explains founder and CEO Jay Steinfeld, who writes that the meetings help gain acceptance and prepare the team for change. He suggests leaders have these short meetings frequently, but advocates starting and ending them on time with no exceptions, being receptive to employee concerns and being absolutely candid.
