Scientists studying mice at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York said they were able to find the kind of clogged arteries that are filled with immune cells and are most likely to rupture and cause a heart attack with the help of gold nanoparticles and a multicolor CT scanner from Philips. They said the technique could also be used to enhance imaging of other diseases, including cancer and kidney disease.
