The Sheikh Zayed Institute for Pediatric Surgical Innovation at Washington, D.C.-based Children's National Medical Center is set to investigate how the use of technologies such as GPS and integrated communication systems in pediatric surgery can improve patient care and outcomes. The research project, which will be shared with other pediatric facilities worldwide, aims to shorten surgeries, reduce complications and pain, and speed up recovery times.
