Pediatric sleep disorders affect behavior and school performance and are a public health issue, according to Judith Owens, director of the Pediatric Sleep Disorders Clinic at Hasbro Children's Hospital in Providence, R.I. Interest in the field has grown exponentially in the past decade, and most large children's hospitals have added pediatric sleep clinics.
