Affluent women under age 45 are increasing their shopping and showcasing their generosity with purchases for friends and to benefit charitable causes, according to a new report from American Express. Meanwhile, their older counterparts are curtailing spending as they get closer to retirement, the report shows. The second-largest growth demographic is super-wealthy men age 45 and older, most of whom are spending more on clothing and travel for themselves.
