The particularly robust polyolefin demand from emerging markets such as China and India plays a role in distorting the overall demand forecast for the coming year, ICIS chemical analysts said. Demand for linear high-density and low-density polyethylene are surging this year, and with delays in Middle East capacity and the production quota of oil producers, demand outlooks are muddled for 2011. "As we move into the remainder of the year, the recovery has waned. The boost from inventory restocking has played out and underlying demand remains weak," the American Chemistry Council said.
