A 20-year study of about 100,000 postmenopausal women found those who engaged in brisk walking, or any similar activity, for at least one hour daily had a 15% reduction in the risk for breast cancer compared with those who did not. Researchers found that even women who didn't become active until after menopause lowered their risk of breast cancer 10% compared with those who remained sedentary.
