The City Council in Mount Morris, Mich., voted to hold off on enforcing a sign-ordinance provision after more than 70 angry residents crowded a meeting to complain after being ordered to remove lawn signs or face a $500 fine. City officials began cracking down on sign-code violations about 10 months ago after hiring a permanent enforcement officer. Residents objected to being told to take down signs that, among other things, voiced support for the city's school sports teams.
