In the first eight months of this year, 7.1 million foreign visitors arrived by air to Mexico, an almost 20% increase over the same period last year. The figures indicate that tourists are not as concerned about drug-related violence and other issues as previously thought. The tourism growth has been concentrated primarily in towns that have steered clear of the violence. "We have had all of these challenges, but we are in the right track," said Alfonso Sumano of the Mexico Tourism Board for the Americas.
