America's railroad history is marked by achievement, writes Ed Hamberger, president of the Association of American Railroads. Hamberger notes that today more than ever, the industry "stands poised to enter a new era of growth as America's policy makers increasingly realize that this industry holds the key to a growing economy as well as an ability to reduce pollution and energy consumption." Railroads' achievements have been made individually and collectively, especially through AAR, he writes.
