U.S. major Dow Chemical is not looking at large deals such as the failed K-Dow venture but is exploring possible joint ventures or divestitures for some commodity plastics units, said Dow Chemical President, Chairman and CEO Andrew Liveris. The firm remains committed to its plastics portfolio, particularly value-added chemicals such as linear low-density polyethylene. "We remain bullish on plastics. We believe industry-pundit forecasts for 2011 are too bearish" in predicting demand and operating rates, Liveris added.
