Consumer online spending in the U.S. in Q3 rose 9% to $32.1 billion, compared with the same period in 2009, according to comScore. The uptick marked the fourth consecutive quarterly increase for the e-retailing segment. Although the growth is "a fairly positive indicator for the upcoming holiday season," the high unemployment rate could dampen seasonal shopping, said comScore Chairman Gian Fulgoni.
