The Department of Agriculture finalized the Biomass Crop Assistance Program, which could help double the income of farmers supplying feedstock for cellulosic-ethanol production. The program allows farmers to receive payments to defray the cost of collection, storage and shipment of cellulosic feedstocks. The BCAP also helps participating farmers get paid up to 75% of the cost of cultivating perennial crops for cellulosic-ethanol production.
