Nestle is shifting its Nesquik and Coffee-Mate brands from McCann Erickson. U.S. marketing for Coffee-Mate will be handled by Publicis, and Nesquik duties may be assigned to Publicis or Ogilvy & Mather.
Nestle's confectionery factory in Lviv, Ukraine, has begun production of Nescafe 3 in 1 coffee sticks. The facility also makes confectionery products under the Svitoch, Nestle Gold, Nesquik, Nuts and Lion brands, as well as Torchin dry seasonings and Nescafe coffee.
McCann Erickson, New York, has laid off about 30 workers over the past month. The job cuts reportedly are due mainly to the difficult economy, but also were partly a result of the shop's loss this month of the Intel creative account to independent Venables, Bell & Partners, San Francisco.
London-based Reckitt Benckiser, marketer of products including Clearasil, Veet and Air Wick, has asked three incumbent shops -- McCann Erickson, Euro RSCG and JWT -- to each create a TV spot for each one of its brands, as part of a review of its estimated $600 million account. Reckitt Benckiser will keep two of the three agencies in its global roster.
