Time Warner Cable, having failed to reach a carriage agreement with Smith Media for its stations in Utica, N.Y., and Burlington, Vt.-Plattsburgh, N.Y., has imported signals from other markets for the same affiliates. TWC in Utica is running Nexstar's NBC station, WBRE, from Wilkes Barre-Scranton, Pa., in place of WKTV and in the other market it is subbing in Fox station WNYF-CA from Watertown, N.Y., for WFFF and Nexstar's WUTR for ABC station WVNY. Smith Media CEO Mike Granados said his company had entered talks "in good faith" and was simply asking for "fair market value." Nextar CEO Perry Sook confirmed that he had sent cease-and-desist letters to Time Warner, saying it never granted the operator permission to import the signals.
