The American Chemistry Council's plastics division is part of a global coalition of 47 international plastics groups, such as PlasticsEurope and the Canadian Plastics Industry Association, that pledged Tuesday to address the problem of marine debris. "These are large and complex issues with societal and economic challenges and more than any single entity, industry, or government can solve," the coalition's declaration said. The coalition wants to see whether programs in a specific country can work across regions, said Steve Russell, vice president of ACC's plastics division.
