Though it is unlikely a bill that would repeal the Defense of Marriage Act will see action in the U.S. House of Representatives any time soon, Rep. Tammy Baldwin, D-Wis., the only out lesbian in Congress, says it was still important to introduce the bill to facilitate discussion and organizing around the issue. "This bill was introduced ... with 108 co-sponsors. That surpasses last session's record and shows growing support and growing belief that the Defense of Marriage Act is both, unconstitutional, but un-American also," Baldwin said.
