Positron emission mammography was able to detect nine more residual index tumors and 10 more additional ipsilateral tumors than whole body PET/CT in women with newly diagnosed breast cancer, a new study showed. Researchers led by Dr. Wendie Berg found via a study of 178 women that PEM was more sensitive than WBPET or WBPET/CT for assessing the extent of breast cancer.
