The American Chemistry Council expressed opposition to a proposal from energy tycoon T. Boone Pickens to provide tax incentives for vehicles using natural gas, as it may add feedstock expenses for manufacturers. The plan, in a bill introduced by House lawmakers, is unfair because it would subsidize only one type of use for natural gas, ACC says. "Supply diversion and its impacts must be considered as lawmakers discuss this bill. Congress needs to recognize how the NAT GAS Act favors one U.S. sector over another, and that it distorts markets," said ACC President and CEO Cal Dooley.
