The Food and Drug Administration released its long-awaited set of proposed rules on Friday for restaurant chains and other food sellers that will be required to post calorie counts and other nutritional information on menus next year. The rules will cover about 280,000 establishments, including bakery, grocery and convenience store chains, but they exempt alcoholic beverages and don't require theaters, bowling alleys and other establishments whose main focus isn't selling food to comply.
