Gradually reducing salt intake allows taste buds to adjust to the flavor differences, making a low-sodium diet easier to follow, writes registered dietitian Mary-Jo Sawyer of the VCU Medical Center in Richmond, Va. Sea salt, kosher salt and flavored salts are not better choices to reduce sodium, but there are a variety of sodium-free seasonings and marinades that can make foods flavorful.
