The Groundwater Protection Council's voluntarily system for Colorado natural gas drillers to disclose hydraulic fracturing chemicals has encouraged five states to consider similar steps. The states, including Colorado, "would require the disclosure of chemicals -- but that requirement could be met by posting to the FracFocus website," said Mike Paque, the council's executive director. The goal of the program "is not to stop them from drilling. It's to show people what's out there. The public has a right to know what those chemicals are," Paque said.
